Tallman Eye Associates was founded in Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1967 by Carter B. Tallman MD, FACS. The practice has pioneered modern eye surgery in the Merrimack Valley. In the 1980s Dr. Tallman was one of the first Doctors in Massachusetts to perform modern cataract surgery using intraocular lenses. In the 1990’s Tallman Eye Associates was one of the first practices in New England to offer patients PRK and LASIK surgery. The practice has always stayed on the leading edge of surgical techniques. More recently we have offered advanced Glaucoma Surgery including selective laser therapy to help control eye pressure in patients with vision threatening glaucoma. We also have expertise in the most modern corneal surgical techniques including traditional corneal transplants and the newest and most progressive type of Corneal Surgery, DSEK.
In 1993 Dr. Cynthia DeAngelis who brought her expertise in both cornea and refractive surgery to Tallman Eye Associates joined Dr. Tallman. The practice continued to grow with the merger of Tallman Eye Associates and the practice of Dr. Thomas Pappavaselio in 1995. More recently, Dr. Samuel Allen joined our practice in 2000. Over the years, Tallman Eye Associates has grown into one of largest eye practices in the area with a professional staff of fifteen doctors offering services in all areas of ophthalmology and optometry.
Tallman Eye Associates, with its Ophthalmic and Optometric “partners”, has grown to offices in Lawrence, Haverhill, Amesbury, North Andover, Salem NH, and Nashua NH. Tallman Eye Associates has evolved into a large multidiscipline eye care provider. Our specialties include primary care Optometry, Contact Lens Service, and Pediatric Optometry for your typical eye care needs. Our medical specialties in Ophthalmology include Anterior Segment and cataract surgery, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Oculoplastics, Retina, Cornea, Glaucoma, as well as General and Medical Ophthalmology.
